In this Thread I will post a project which called my attention since some time ago,
it is an electro mechanical dynamo machine usually called flux switching generator.
A couple of years ago I stumbled about a video from such a generator which called
my attention. Certainly most of this videos claiming self-running generators are Fake,
but we can't be sure until to make our own benchwork and testing. First I was looking for information to find any proof of concept, experiments which could give some practical usable results. I did not find a lot, there where discussions at free energy forum, also some doubtful videos, others with irrelevant setups.
So i was thinking about how to design a test setup which can hopefully proof or discard the concept.
So in this thread I will share the newest project that I'm working on, and will you keep updated with the building progress and experiments.
After doing some simple tests with the magnetic circuits I came to the conclusion that this setup should bring clarity and will be versatile for testing different variants of operation as it allows to change coils and cores easily. Here a rough sketch:
The construction consists of a fixed shaft with two pairs of cylindrical neo magnets (20 x 20mm) on opposite sides of the former. Over this shaft a drum shaped rotor made of reinforced resin is mounted with two roller bearings. This drum has on the circumference segments of a high permeability material, which are distributed in a manner to switch the magnetic current alternately between the generation coils and a shorting segment on the rotor. As there is no reversal of the polarity, one generation coil provides the positive halfwaves and the other the negative one, separated by two diodes. The best materials should be found experimental. I made some tests with a magnet pair and a simple magnetic circuit, and found that the idea to use encapsulated iron powder did not perform well, there was a lot of magnetic leakage. So I have tried with laminated silicone steel sheets, which gave a good result when the correct size is used. If the eddy currents keeps in acceptable values it should perform well, this has to be found out by experiments. The cores of the coils could be iron ,as there will be no eddy current losses without polarity reversal, only some hysteresis losses. Although the laminated silicon steel seems to have some advantage, a slightly higher permeability.
I will keep the header of the thread short in order to make easier the access to the newest bottom.
