hi friends,

i need a place where i can show some of the interesting scope-shots that we can get when working with poc-coils.

take a look at this one...

CH1: voltage from primary coil (series tank circuit)

CH2: current from primary coil

CH3: POC under load (resistive and inductive load in parallel)

CH4: Source dipole (input voltage)

when you look at the voltage from source you can see when the switching happens (on/off). the output on poc is pumped up by the circulating current. even when the switch is off, we can see the energy generation on the poc coil.

a second one taken at higher frequency..

 

instead of poc output we see the power which is circulating inside the tank-circuit and the power which is consumed.

i build a transformer for 230V/50Hz and make the secondary in POC-style... this is how the primary coil looks like

CH1: source voltage (230V grid)

CH2: current which is happening in primary coil

CH3: voltage after rectification on secondary

CH4: current through lightbulp on secondary

the voltage and current on primary is interesting. on the positive part of the cycle the current happens bevore the voltage - while on the negative cycle the current is in phase with the voltage. when we think of the opposing coils we know, that one part is always assisting the primary. so i think this is, what we can see here.

the primary coil (yellow wire) is energized by a pulse-circuit (lowside switching). the trigger-coil is laying on top of the primary. the second e-core is with 1mm distance (paper) placed over the first one.

the opposing coil is mounted on the second e-core and each leg is rectified with MUR4100 to a FKP capacitor (2uF/400V). centertap is on other side of cap. in parallel i do a charging on LiIon-Cells (16V). So this is measured under load.

this is what the oscilloscope shows..

CH1 - this is the pulse which goes through L1 primary coil.

CH2 - this is the current which travels to the LiIon-cells.

CH3 - one leg from POC coil

CH4 - other leg from POC coil

again this transformer gets a single sharp pulse on the primary. the responce from secondary is as explained many times here on this forum

when we switch from one to another potential we should do this as fast as possible.

CH1 (yellow) -> this is what the switch is doing IPA60R170CFD7

CH3 (pink) -> POC output under load (100W led array)

when we look deeper into the waveform we can see, that we have 3 frequencies...

when this happens you have much more output...

Excellent thread My Friend!

Most EE's dont have any idea about Power, they focus specifically on the Circuit with very little effort to focus on the inner workings or the "Generation" of Electrical Energy and what the Fundamental Requirements are for the "Generation" of it!

How the Energy, V x I x t = Joules, even gets there in the first place, is a complete mystery to most EE's! A shame, as Power is a very Important World Changing Field of Study, but very few do!

for some reason there is no more heat on the coils.. heat is only visible at the load.

on the scopeshot we can see the input from grid - this is nearly 99% reactive power

the output situation consists of 2 POC-coil's

CH4 and CH3 are doing the same but inverted. as a result we get current impulses which are 2x grid frequency.

so in other words...

we can build a transformer which runs on reactive power and still can have beautiful rfesults on the output side.

i like to add a thermal image where we can see how primary and secondary side are performing.

primary side is on the right, output is on the left side (poc coil).

Hey Baerndorfer,

One side Hot, one side Cold, just like the Yin Yang, I wonder why we see this, are we dealing with different Currents in each POC? I am speculating and can prove nothing in this area, so please understand, I keep this mostly quiet!

Hey Scalarpotential,

Output from Partnered Output Coils, Voltage and Current is in Phase through a Resistive Load, Pure, Real Power.

Yes, Ohms Law applies, Current I = Voltage V / Resistance R and so on!

I do not understand the Scope Shots Baerndorfer kindly supplied. Baerndorfer's experiments are first class and always have been, but I cant explain what's going on in those shots. I am guessing there is a large Inductive Load, but this still does not explain the Voltage with very little, to no current! If Yellow was Current and Pink was Voltage, or the other way around, this would make more sense.

Baerndorfer is Correct!

Your Input Power, it can be Negative, meaning you get more back, than you initially put in! This is Reactive Power or Ping Pong Power!

All while your Output Power is Real Power, Active Power, it is Current and Voltage Phase Locked, real In-Phase Power Powering Resistive Loads!

hey chris, this is how the current from POC looks like..

on the first screenshot we can see the current on CH2 (cyan) which happens on POC leg1. CH3 (pink) is the voltage.

second screenshot: the current (CH2, cyan) which comes from POC leg2 (yellow) looks different - it hase more power.

the hot side from POC as shown in Flir-image is POC leg2.

So output I & V are not in phase and not according to Ohm's law?

Are the ringing oscillations caused by magnetic resonance?

some images from yesterdays experiment..

and the scope..

again i'm producing this pulse with an IRFP460 - you can see it on CH1

CH4 is the voltage from cap who stores the energy coming in from dc power supply. we can see, that this cap is pumped up, when the switch turns off.

on top of that we have CH3 in pink which is the output of this thing. we can see a 400V flat line under load condition. in this case the load consists of 4 COB LED's (AC110/30W).

on first image you can see the total consumption of this tiny system.

the efficiency is not that high - maybe 80% i think. the COP is another story...

all coils on this toroid are POC-coils. i get rid of ordinary coils completely with this setup.

What is a Scalar:
