In this thread i will post some experiments related to the currents induced in shorted coils.
As a first test in response to the video from YT channel ismael342, which was posted by MrBlobby, the title is:
Barbosa y Leal primera incógnita , primera prueba
I have made a few short tests with a 50W of the shelf transformer with secondary removed. The primary is connected to 230v poweroutlet thru a 1 ohm currentsense resistor. Here the results:
the upper trace is the voltage induced in open circuit(50mV/div), the sineshaped trace is the input voltage , the triangle shaped input current(100mA/div)
As in my Transformer the inputcurrent is only about 30ma, the induced current is much lower as in the video shown using a MOT , which drawed 2.7 A at the input. When I connected the scope on the secondary in open circuit it showed a small voltage around 10mV in phase with the inputvoltage. I guess the effect could be produced by Fluxleakage , as the wire is very thick gauge a minimal induced voltage would give arise to a huge current.
I still did not came to any conclusion if this currents, or asociated magnetic fields could be used for any practical implementation. If it could be harnessed without loading the source it might be possible.
