My Friends,
I thought the Magnetic Coefficient of Coupling k would be worth covering. We have spoken about this many many times, but not really covered it in any detail.
Here is the basic Math for k:
Ref: Calculator of magnetic coupling coefficient
This video is one of the best I can find:
This is also a very good video with a demonstration:
In the past, I have said many times:
Can anyone tell my why Loose Coupling or a Leakage Inductance is necessary?
Machines with a little bit of a lower k, Magnetic Coefficient of Coupling, normally is best from my experience! If a Machines is too tightly Coupled, then these effects are not so visible! But not too low!
There is a happy medium, I would estimate between 0.5 and 0.8 as a range to aim for, but only as an Approximation.
I hope this thread helps others!
Best Wishes,
Chris
