Hi all, was away for a bit and decided to make some more experiments.

Came upon some parameters with this device setup, that is showing zero watts input on my killiwatt meter, that is connected to the primary input coil and mosfet.

I have some ideas, probably not much different than Chris's conclusions, as to why the device is behaving in this way.

I have a schematic and I will share some words on what I think is happening.

Then I will make some drawings, to show each phase of functioning, of what I think is happening within the device, at each phase.

1) The input coil L1 is switched on, from output from the 555 timer, lets say this builds a south magnetic pole, at the input coil wire end, connected to the drain of the mosfet.

 2) L2 does not build a magnetic field at this time, because of the diode, though it does build an electric field.

3) L3 does start to build a magnetic field, though when the pulse width on time, of the input coil pulse is appropriate for the device parameters, L1 input coil will be switched off, before the magnetic field of L3 can influence input coil L1 to any degree.

4) L1 input coils magnetic field is now collapsing and L2 coil magnetic field is expanding.

5) L3 coils still expanding magnetic field then couples with the L1 collapsing field of opposite magnetic pole, this may be why the killiwatt meter shows zero watts, as the device may be feeding back to the supply.

6) L3 coil then starts collapsing, as L2 coils magnetic field is increasing, L3 coils magnetic field is now opposing the field of L2 coil, which cause L3 to become an input coil, relative to L2 and creates generator action in L2 coil, which may explain why the led bulb becomes much brighter, when coil L3 is shorted upon itself.

7) For all these effects to occur, the input pulse timing and overall device parameters, need to be within a certain timing window, for these effects to transpire.

8) Input coil L1 is now switched on again and the cycle starts again.

This may not be exactly what is occurring within the device, though I think it is close.

Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Hi Skywatcher, thank you for sharing your great experiment. About the load. Can you try the experiment with an incandescent bulb instead of the LED?

Hi satmedia, I made some tests.

I used an 11 watt incandescent, it is the smallest i have on hand, it lighted dimly and the input went back and forth between 0 and .3 watts input.

I then tried another led bulb, an off the shelf led bulb, from ikea, it's a 1 watt filament style led bulb.

This led bulb gives even more light output than my homemade one, probably at least 3 times the light output and it stays at zero watts input.

Not sure why, this setup seems to prefer led bulbs as a load.

I also added a 470uF 200 volt electrolytic capacitor across the output.

Also, If I open circuit partnered coil L3, The output is barely anything, the capacitor rises very slowly, to maybe 25 volts.

However, with coil L3 shorted, the output climbs very fast and The capacitor is above 120 volts and bright led bulb.

Hi Skywatcher,

why did you choose this diode setup?

There are multiple diode setups possible:

Both conducting during pulsewidth on time (dutycycle) as in the original POC.

Like you did: during dutycycle with only L3 conducting, and L2 conducting after the dutyccle, during collapsing flux ("flyback"), did you get a high voltage spike and did it retain?

Neither L2 and L3 conducting during dutycycle, L1 stores all energy in the flux proportional to dutycycle time, and gets dumped in both L2 and L3 after the pulse.

Something to think about is how the magnetic fields interact during a cycle of each setup, the first one we know and works, L2&L3 seem to ring during dutycycle. I wonder how and if the last option would work at all.

Thanks

Hi alann, I've been trying different things.

And as far as I'm aware, my readings of what Chris has been sharing, is that we don't want the coils loaded when the input coil is switched on, only on the collapse.

Unless I've misinterpreted what Chris is sharing lately, as far as the dc pulsed model.

So, yes, L3 is building a magnetic field during input pulse on time, though my idea is, that it does not have enough time to interfere with input coil L1, due to the ultra short on time and delay time it takes to build and propagate.

And the rest of my thinking, is in my previous long post.

Like I have shared, with L3 shorted, the output increases dramatically.

I have a short video, I'm going to upload it now and post it shortly.

It shows the led bulb lighting to a decent brightness and the kill a watt meter, that is connected to the 19 vdc laptop power supply, stays at zero watts, or below 100 milliwatts at least.

Hi Sky. In my opinion it is a really good demonstration of the effect we looking for! I also think (with your explanation before) that you have a great understanding of what is going on!💪

What is hitting me is the output gradually going up ,i know it have to fill the capacitor but I have see the same "building power" effect when the load is connected with my experiment. It is like the effect gradually builds up to full output...

Really interesting demonstration!

As soon as the time permits, I will try to replicate.

Again thank you for sharing and to be here as an active member, it's really appreciated!

Hi, I found this, it resembles your circuit, it's called a forward-flyback DC-DC conveter.

https://patents.google.com/patent/US9419531B2/en

Difference is the output filter and it doesn't use a shorted coil.

Hi wistiti, thanks, sounds good, your core and bobbins look good,

Hi alann, thanks for sharing.

I've been tweaking the 555 timer settings a little, to see if I can get more output, while keeping the kill a watt meter showing zero watts.

The pulse on time of my setup is 154 nano seconds and 6.8 micro seconds off time and 2.27% duty cycle.

So I decided to alter that a bit, raised the timing capacitor to 6.8nF and 32 Kohm with 10 Kohm potentiometer in series on 555 timer discharge rail, to tune into any sweet spots.

There are sweet spots to be found.

Was able to raise the loaded output voltage by a couple volts, which makes a good difference in the led bulb brightness, by doing this.

And also maintain the zero watts input, according to the kill a watt meter.

Will continue to tweak the settings later today, to see if anymore output can be squeezed out of this setup.

From observing the 1 watt led bulb, powered direct from the 120vac line power, I would say this device is lighting the bulb, to at least 60%-70% of full brightness and the bulb is rated at 100 lumens per watt.

What is a Scalar:

In physics, scalars are physical quantities that are unaffected by changes to a vector space basis. Scalars are often accompanied by units of measurement, as in "10 cm". Examples of scalar quantities are mass, distance, charge, volume, time, speed, and the magnitude of physical vectors in general.

You need to forget the Non-Sense that some spout with out knowing the actual Definition of the word Scalar! Some people talk absolute Bull Sh*t!

The pressure P in the formula P = pgh, pgh is a scalar that tells you the amount of this squashing force per unit area in a fluid.

A Scalar, having both direction and magnitude, can be anything! The Magnetic Field, a Charge moving, yet some Numb Nuts think it means Magic Science!

The great Nikola Tesla:

Ere many generations pass, our machinery will be driven by a power obtainable at any point of the universe. This idea is not novel. Men have been led to it long ago by instinct or reason. It has been expressed in many ways, and in many places, in the history of old and new. We find it in the delightful myth of Antheus, who drives power from the earth; we find it among the subtle speculations of one of your splendid mathematicians, and in many hints and statements of thinkers of the present time. Throughout space there is energy. Is this energy static or kinetic? If static, our hopes are in vain; if kinetic - and this we know it is for certain - then it is a mere question of time when men will succeed in attaching their machinery to the very wheelwork of nature.
